How to market your business more effectively on Facebook

Worldwide, there are over 1.94 billion monthly active Facebook users for March 2017 (Facebook MAUs) which is an 18 percent increase year over year. (Source: Facebook 5/3/17).

What this means for you: In case you had any lingering doubts, statistically, Facebook is too big to ignore.

With almost 2 billion monthly active Facebook users, Facebook is a great platform for promoting and advertising your company by engaging with your potential customers online.

4 Simple things that you could be doing to market your business on Facebook:

1. It’s not all about likes
You could have 50,000 likes on your page, however, this is no use to you if you aren’t posting content or if your content isn’t being interacted with. You need to ensure that you are constantly posting engaging content because a page ‘like’ is only the start to a customer journey. The aim of Facebook marketing, is to raise awareness and turn those likes, into comments and shares, then into leads.

2. Questions
Asking your audience questions is one of the best ways to raise engagement on your page. Simple things such as ‘How is your Monday?’ or ‘What is your favourite condiment to have with your roast dinner?’ (on a Sunday). Simple posts like this will get a lot of engagement because almost everybody can relate to it.
Although it may seem pointless because this post, in particular, isn’t marketing any product or service that you sell. They still appear on people’s timelines, the more people that comment on them, meaning that the name and brand of your company is getting noticed and will be recognised. This will also encourage people to view your page and see other posts that may be promotional.

3. Make your audience laugh
One thing that a lot of businesses do wrong is that they’re serious all the time. This defeats the point in advertising on social media. Social media posts should – more often than not – be fun and light hearted, to show people that you aren’t a harsh, serious company.

By this, we don’t mean make fun of your business, we mean post funny generic posts every now and again (please see one of our gif’s here).

This will also help with your exposure and engagement.

4. Use images, video and Facebook LIVE
I know this may seem like a simple thing to do, but it does make all the difference. Facebook will ‘rate’ your content higher if you post images, videos and use Facebook live amongst your content, as it is seen as a more engaging form of content and it is easier to view.

Now, you may think that this is hard to do and the concept may seem daunting, however, it is actually really easy to turn textual content into visual content.
For example, if you were to do a text post on how to cook a Lasagne, with a step-by-step guide, along with ingredients, you could turn this into a video tutorial or Facebook LIVE tutorial, with the ingredients in text alongside it.

There are of course many other ways to effectively market your business on social media – this will just give you an idea to get you started.
